Look Good and Feel Even Better

How to Look Good and Feel Even Better.

While it’s true that your self-esteem should never depend on your outward appearance, it’s hard to deny that a positive correlation between how one looks and how one feels indeed exists and that’s not necessarily a bad thing!

Waking up in the morning and presenting our best selves to the world fills us with a sense of confidence—definitely more so than staying in bed, eating junk food, and binge-watching TV shows or movies all day.

It’s true, looking good makes us feel good and we’re here to teach you how to look good and feel even better, not by using superficial cosmetics or encouraging you to go get a tan but through sustainable practices that will enhance your life and bring out the best version of you...

Tip 1. Get Your Beauty Sleep:

The old adage is true, we really do need our beauty sleep. Sleep may be the closest thing there is to the fountain of youth. Your body uses its time spent resting to repair and recover itself, leading to a long list of benefits for both your appearance and your well-being. Not getting enough sleep can make you look—and feel—drained, with puffy eye lids and dark circles under your eyes. On the other hand, a good night’s rest will help you to feel relaxed and rejuvenated, while your skin will refreshed and radiant.

Sleep is also essential for our overall health. Too little sleep can affect your mood, make you less emotionally resilient, more prone to depression, lead to weight gain, weaken your immune system, and the list goes on. Make sure you’re getting a recommended seven to nine hours every night to be on your top A game, and if you’re not, try to sneak in an afternoon nap.

Tip 2. Work Out More:

Everyone wants to feel confident when summer rolls around and the heat demands we show a little skin. Proper exercise will help you to get the lean legs, toned torsos, sculpted arms, and many other physically fit attributes that many of us hope to achieve. Start by working out to eliminate any undesired flabbiness and also to help improve your mood.

Ever heard of  endorphins? They’re neurotransmitters that pass along signals in our brain from one neuron to the next, which in turn causes feelings and emotions. The release of endorphins is associated with feelings of pleasure, motivation, euphoria, pain relief, social connection and even sexuality/sensuality. Exercise releases a floodgate of endorphins and getting a good workout  can be a major stress-reliever! Yoga is one of the most popular forms of exercise that improves both your body and mind, consider signing up for a class and you'll be on your way to a fit and fabulous life!

If you exercise outdoors, be sure to wear more sunscreen. You should add more sunscreen to your life regardless of what you’re doing to protect against harmful UV rays. It’s true that a good dose of vitamin D can benefit our mood, but unprotected sun exposure can create permanent damage. Not only does it accelerate premature aging, leading to wrinkles and sunspots, but it also poses a serious threat to our health and can even lead to cancer.

In the warm spring and summer months you can soak up the sun, but do so with caution, and take the necessary step to prevent and treat sunburn and make sure to apply a generous amount of SPF before grabbing your sunglasses and heading out the door.

Tip 3. Start Eating Better:

Finally, it’s important to improve your diet if you want to look and feel better. Cheeseburgers, chips and cookies are delicious, but they’re also packed with calories that do no favors for your figure. Eating junk food in excess can lead to weight gain, cause acne, and pose health concerns such as diabetes and heart disease. Greasy foods with high glycemic indexes may also make you feel bloated, sluggish, and lethargic.

Clean up your diet to both whittle your waist and improve how you feel on a day-to-day basis. Leafy greens are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants which can boost your energy levels—naturally, so you can hold off on that third cup of coffee. Fuel your body with the nutrients it needs in order to operate at full speed throughout the day and remember to start your day of right with a delicious plus nutritious breakfast for a happier, healthier you!

Everyone deserves a day off, so don’t beat yourself up on the nights you slept too little, or the days you decided to stay indoors and chill out with some ice cream. But if you’re serious about becoming a better version of you—one who feels good and looks good—start by prioritizing these aspects of your life and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the transformation.
