Tis The Season For Baking Delicious Sugar Cookies.

We can't get enough of the delicious aroma that fills up the air and lingers long after we are done baking the most delicious sugar cookies. In the fall and winter seasons especially the kitchen is the heart of our home and the family loves gathering around the kitchen island as we whip up some of the most tantalizing dessert recipes that bring out the sweet tooth in all of us.


Today we are sharing one of our favorite soft and chewy cookie recipes with you. The Sugar Cookie is a classic, we love the fluffy texture, slightly golden color and how easy it is to bake, especially when you use this fantastic recipe that we have enjoyed over and over again!

  • 1 egg
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar for rolling cookies

Baking Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350ยบ F.

2. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper or a nonstick baking mat.

3. Cream together butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.

4. Add egg and mix until well-combined.

5. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla.

6. Scoop cookie dough by the tablespoon full and roll into a ball.

7. Add granulated sugar to a large bowl. 

8. Place each ball of cookie dough into the bowl of granulated sugar and roll to coat well. 

9. Place cookie dough onto baking sheet, spacing about 1½-inches to 2 inches apart. 

10. Lightly press each cookie down with your thumb. 

11. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly brown.

12. Remove cookies from oven and let them cool before taking them off the baking sheet.
