Your Guide To The Perfect Golden Glow

Your Guide To The Perfect Golden Glow.

We all love to have a sun-kissed golden glow. It can be that quick little confidence booster that makes us feel good about the way we look but sometimes, getting a beautiful natural tan can be difficult. Like during the winter season when we can't enjoy lounging poolside. Or if you prefer a healthier and less time consuming alternative to hours of sunbathing and being exposed to harmful UV Rays during the spring summer months.

Thankfully, spray tans are here to save the day. It's quick, efficient and you can have a natural looking tan in just a few hours. While there are a myriad of products that let you do it yourself, there’s simply no substitute for getting it done professionally. Read on to discover fab tips to help you prepare for getting the perfect spray tan and how to ensure your golden glow lasts!

Tip 1: Exfoliate

Before you head off to your appointment, make sure you have exfoliated well using a non-oily exfoliant. This will help remove any dead skin cells and ensure that your tan is as even as possible. Forgetting to do this could leave you with a mismatched, streaky tan.

Tip 2: Shave

It’s recommended to avoid shaving as much as possible after you’ve had your spray tan, as this can act as an exfoliant and reduce the amount of time your tan stays. It is best therefore to get shaved or waxed before your spray tan to help prolong its stay.

Tip 3: Don’t wear lotion or makeup

When you go to your spray tan appointment, ensure that you don’t have on any sunscreen lotion, moisturizer or make up. Your skin should be completely clear. This can affect how well the spray tan goes on and could impact its appearance. Most salons should have make up wipes, but it’s better to arrive prepared just in case.

Tip 4: Bring an umbrella

If you’re heading to the spray tan appointment when it's raining or snowing, or has the potential too, then take an umbrella and wear long-sleeved clothing. Rain on a fresh spray tan will only result in one thing, streaks. It’s better to be prepared and keep yourself covered, just in case.

Tip 5: Be careful with water

Immediately after your spray tan and for the rest of the day, be careful around water. Try to avoid getting wet as much as possible, to help avoid any streaks. It’s also recommended to avoid the pool or sea for up to a day after your spray tan, to give it time to settle and to reduce the chances of it washing off.
